For serious dancers ages 17 and up, the audition is comprised of a class with the Artistic Directors including ballet, contemporary and improvisation. From both an audition and the written application, dancers are chosen based on suitability for an advanced contemporary dance program including their approach to learning and their commitment to a full training season.

The Artistic Directors encourage dancers interested in auditioning to attend one of our Intensives as an introduction to the program environment, methods and expectations while building a relationship with the directors prior to the audition. Modus Operandi celebrates diverse dance backgrounds and experience. If you are concerned about your eligibility please submit a resume and or description of your dance and dance related experience to date to modusoperandi@outinnerspace.ca

Video audition is accepted though it is highly recommended that dancers attend in person.

All prospective students must fill out an application form and send it to modusoperandi@outinnerspace.ca.

MO students arrive in the studio with a genuine curiosity, willing and able bodies and a sound toolbox for choreographic play. —Justine Chambers, Contemporary Dance Artist and Educator

Modus Operandi is one of these rare programs that not only upholds the highest standards in conceptual and aesthetic training and composition, but also puts these ideas into practice by producing some of Vancouver’s best contemporary dance. The dancers in this program are articulate, brave and versatile. Their ability to access the body in all its complexity while staying engaged as a live and present performer is amazing. —Rob Kitsos, Contemporary Dance Educator and Choreographer
