Workshop Description:

The OIS Summer Professional Workshop with Aishwarya Raut and Patrick Howell is a week-long intensive designed for aspiring and emerging dance professionals aged 16–30, that are between training seasons or recent training graduates who want to maintain, deepen, and further develop their practice.

Each day begins with a ballet class led by Patrick Howell, followed by afternoon sessions with acclaimed dancer Aishwarya Raut, former dancer with Rambert Dance Company, Akram Khan Company, and currently a dancer with GöteborgsOperans Danskompani.

About Patrick Howell

William Patrick Howell, born in New Orleans, began dance training at 15 and earned scholarships to the Rock School and School of American Ballet, appearing in Center Stage. He started professionally with BalletMet, performing leading roles, then became a soloist with Northern Ballet Theatre (2004–07). In 2008, he joined Milwaukee Ballet as a Leading Artist, dancing principal roles. He later worked with Theatre Augsburg, collaborating with renowned choreographers and winning a theatre prize in 2012. Returning to Milwaukee in 2014, he expanded into teaching in 2017. Since moving to Vancouver in 2020, he teaches at Harbour Dance Centre and Modus Operandi.

About Aishwarya Raut

Aishwarya Raut is a Mumbai-born dance artist trained in India and the UK, holding an MA in Professional Dance Performance. She works internationally as a performer, choreographer, and actor, and has danced with Rambert, GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, Akram Khan Company, LostDog.  Alongside her stage work, she collaborates with artists and brands across music, fashion, and film. 
Since beginning her choreographic practice in 2024, her work has been presented across the UK, India, and Europe. She has been featured in Dance Magazine and Nowness, received UK National Dance Award nominations for Best Female Dancer (2024) and Outstanding Female Modern Performance (2025), and was named one of Bachtrack’s 10 Rising Stars in Dance and Choreography (2024/25).
